Lillian “Yvonne” Arthur Taylor, 89, of Charlotte, NC passed away on July 17, 2017 after a brief illness at Presbyterian Hospital Harris Hospice Unit.
Yvonne was born February 7, 1928 in Charlotte, NC to the late Harold Broadus Arthur and Mattie Alexander Arthur of Concord, NC.
Yvonne was a caring, selfless woman who always put other people’s needs ahead of her own. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a cherished friend. She loved planting flowers and making artificial arrangements. She had excellent homemaking skills and wanted her home to be pretty and neat. Yvonne and Ted worked many years together at their company, T-C Construction, where she served as Vice-President. They enjoyed traveling the world together with their friends in the “Jokesters” Club. The “Wesley Fellowship” Sunday School Class at UCUMC was also very special to her. Some of her achievements include receiving the “Woman of the Year” Award from the local chapter of the American Business Women’s Association in 1985 and serving on the city board of BB&T.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Dianne, in December 1949 and granddaughter, Amy Taylor Harvell, in March 2007.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Theodore W. Taylor, Jr.; daughters Shelby Wallace (husband John), Huntersville, NC, Beverly Burton (husband Matthew), Clemmons, NC; son Tim Taylor (wife Carol), Huntersville, NC.; grandchildren Melanie Hayes (Ed); Eric Wallace (Michelle); Heather Bridwell (Jason), Taylor Burton; great grandchildren Brooke and Ethan Hayes, Trevor and Ashley Wallace, Megan Bridwell.
A Memorial Service in celebration of Yvonne’s life will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at University City United Methodist Church, 3835 West W. T. Harris Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28269. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private graveside burial service will be Friday morning, July 21, 2017 at Carolina Memorial Park in Concord, NC.
The family wishes to thank Tom and LaVon Sigmon for their many years of friendship and especially for their love, care, and support over the past few years as Aldersgate neighbors; the ladies at Aldersgate Home Health Care Team who have assisted her in the care of her husband, and the nurses/assistants/CNA’s on third floor “C” at Presbyterian and the Harris Hospice Unit.
