William F. "Corky" Osterloh, 82, of Mooresville, NC passed away at his home on May 8, 2015. All adored his lifelong nickname "Corky." Corky was a smart, devoted, loving, witty and optimistic husband, father, friend, uncle, colleague, caregiver, and grandfather. Born in Moberly, Missouri on August 14, 1932, he met his wife Norma M. (Devenport) Osterloh there. He and Norma would have celebrated 60 years of marriage June 19, 2015. Living in Missouri for over 70 years, Corky graduated from the University of MO - Columbia, and was a newspaper boy from the time he was 12 delivering papers until age 82 reading various online newspapers each day. Corky moved from newspaper editor to a career in St. Louis, MO in communications and public relations retiring in East Alton, IL after 25 years with Olin Corporation. In 2007, he and Norma relocated to North Carolina to "watch their grandkids grow up." In retirement, Corky enjoyed spending time with Norma, boating on Lake Ozark, reading, following the Missouri Tigers, telling great stories, and attending the grandkids sports. A prayer service will be held at 7 pm Thursday May 14; the family will receive friends prior to the service at 6 pm at the Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville, NC. A funeral service will be held on Saturday May 16, visitation 11:00 - 1:00 at Cater Funeral Home, Moberly, MO. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Corky was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Nina "Susie" Osterloh as well as his two brothers John C. and Richard F. Osterloh. He is survived by his wife Norma, his daughter Beth Ann and son-in-law Douglas A. Brochetti of Huntersville, NC; two grandchildren Megan and Sam; two nephews Mike P. Sadler and Mark G. Sadler; three nieces Lora Lee Osterloh, Lisa K. Osterloh, and Karen Janette Tate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Missouri Cancer Associates in Columbia, MO.
