Mr. William "Dub" David Nantz, 85, of Stanley, NC. died Sunday September 25, 2011 at his daughter's home in Mooresville. Born July 4, 1926 in Mecklenburg County he was one of eight children born to the late Dennie Nantz and Ellie Presley Nantz. After graduating from Cornelius High School he entered the US Army in 1950. He was awarded the combat medical badge for duty performed while serving in the 7th Infantry Division and holds the Korean service ribbons with two campaign stars. After being honorably discharge he began his employment with Duke Power Company where he retired after 15 years of service and he was a member of the Lake Norman Church of God. A true outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed raising animals. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday September 29 in the Chapel of Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home with Rev. John Abee officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. He is survived by his sons, Kenneth D. Nantz and wife, Teresa of Lincolnton, Alvin D. Nantz and wife Donna of Mooresville, Norman E. Nantz and wife Nina of Lincolnton; daughters, Betty Shumaker and husband Randolph, Gail Stewart and husband Bobby both of Mooresville, Dorothy Hayes of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister, Eudine Nantz of Kinston NC; several grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
