William "Bill" Headley

June 24, 1943 — September 26, 2020

William Kirk (Bill) Headley, 77, died on September 26, 2020 at home in Denver, NC.

Bill was born June 24, 1943, to Louis Watson and Eileen Hale Headley, in Baltimore, MD.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Louis Headley, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Judy, of 36 years; brother, Dennis Headley and spouse Marilyn, of Virginia; sister, Bonnie Headley Burger and spouse Mike of Alaska; three amazing children, Kirk Headley of Virginia, Jennifer Hunt and spouse James Hunt of Alabama, Sunshine Orrel Dunkerley and spouse Jeff of Wyoming; four beautiful grandchildren, Shelby, Will, Ashley and Sarah; in-laws, Carolyn and Jerry Guter, and Tracy and Billy Marshall; and fourteen precious nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Northumberland High School in Heathsville, VA and honorably serving the United States Air Force, Bill finished his formal education at Auburn University.

Bill’s love of construction and development came from his Dad, who started working in the family business part-time at the age of 13. He loved to build things, fix things and dig in the dirt! He switched from residential to commercial upon moving to Charlotte (following Judy!) where he worked with Faison Associates, and later Portrait Homes. It was always hard to tell if he loved his job or the people he worked with the most. He forged many strong friendships along the way.

Bill truly loved his family, friends, fishing, Auburn and Panther football. He also loved and played baseball.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-1:45pm Friday, October 2, 2020 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home followed by a Memorial Service in the Chapel at 1:45pm.
