William (Bill) Collins, 69, of Huntersville, NC, husband of Sally Thompson Collins, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center after a long battle with Leukemia. Bill grew up in Collingdale, PA before moving to South Jersey and eventually residing in Huntersville. Bill was a 1964 graduate of Collingdale High School, Collingdale, PA. He was an Alum of William Carey College in Hattiesburg, M.S. where he was inducted into their sports hall of fame as a member of their 1969 National Championship Baseball team. Bill was a history teacher and basketball coach for over 20 years at Darby-Colwyn/Penn Wood High Schools before going to work with his brother at Collins Family Markets as the Director of Support Services. He loved to play golf and ride his Harley with the Collins Family men. Bill will be sorely missed by his loving wife of 47 years, Sally Collins; daughter Megan Collins Heiar; son-in-law, Tim Heiar, and their three children, Brady, Ben, and Maddie; as well as his brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Sandy Collins; his sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Drew Assini; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to "Carolinas HealthCare Foundation" in Bill's name.
