William-Allen Peterson, 31, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away from natural causes on November 1, 2023. Will was born in Arlington, Virginia on March 27, 1992, beloved son of Pamela and Morris Peterson (Ruckersville, Virginia). Will is survived by his loving and devout wife, Catherine (Catie) Peterson (Van Slyke), loving brother Matthew Warren Charles Peterson, sister-in-law Johnesa Peterson (Earlysville, Virginia), and paternal grandmother Mabel Louise Morrow. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Gaston and Wilma Bergeret (Ruckersville, Virginia) and paternal grandfather James Peterson (Palmyra, Virginia).
Will attended Meadowland Elementary and Seneca Ridge Middle-School in Sterling VA. Here he was affectionately known as Billy to many. He was a 2011 graduate of Albemarle High School CATEC Culinary Arts program in Charlottesville, Virginia. Will graduated with an Associate Degree and Bachelor of Science Degree from Johnson & Wales University in Culinary Arts in 2017.
Will was a dedicated and extraordinary husband, son, brother, chef, and friend to many. He was one to always make you smile and laugh. His passion for cooking developed at a young age at the side of his mother and grandmothers. Executive Chef of Foxcroft Wine Co. Waverly, Will felt the most joy in his ability to bring new culinary experiences, good food, smiles and witty banter to his many regulars and customers.
Chef Will was an adored rising star in the Charlotte, North Carolina culinary scene. He led awesome front and back of house culinary teams that produced incredible arrays of delicious, open fire dishes. His memory will live on in the culinary community that he built and the chefs he guided.
Will was an avid outdoorsman, motor-head, shooting sports enthusiast and known to many as “Wild Willie”. He cooked many meals out in the desert as Chef for Team 338’s 4x4 off-road race team and in the Blue Ridge mountains for clients of his family’s business. He shared an innate “dog whisperer” gift. We will all dearly miss "Wild Willie", his infectious smile, positive attitude, and caring personality.
Will, at his core, was a good man, great human being and kind, gentle spirit. He was a person you could go to for anything, and he was always there for his family and friends. He was a soulmate, mentor, impeccable professional, fierce friend, attentive ear and so much more. Will’s spirit will echo out and be sadly missed by all he touched during his life.
