Wilda Moore Lawing, age 93 of Charlotte passed from her temporary earthly life to her eternal life of peace and rest with Jesus on Dec. 14, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sewell Craig Lawing; parents Charles and Anna Lee Moore and siblings Wilfred Moore, Carol Moore and Dorothea Hammock. Mrs. Lawing is survived by her daughter, Janice Stevens and her son, Mike Lawing and wife Linda; four grandchildren Jennifer Stevens, Jody Stevens and wife, Kelly, Leigh Anna Thrower and Jason Lawing; four great-grand children Lindsay, Maggie and Corey Stevens and Adam Stevens-Waite, all of Charlotte and many nephews and nieces. Mrs. Lawing was a member of Pleasant Grove UMC for over 70 years where she served both her church and her community in many different capacities. She was a member of the Charles Rhinehart Sunday School Class. Mrs. Lawing loved her family and worked hard to gather information on her ancestors as well as Mr. Lawing's, resulting in a book of dates and pictures going back many generations. She served on the History Committee of her church in later years helping to complete information on the history of Pleasant Grove UMC. She also loved to write poems and short stories. Mrs. Lawing was a homemaker for most of her married years always available to family and friends to help in any way she could. She will truly be missed. Pall Bearers are Mike Lawing, Jason Lawing, Jody Stevens, Corey Stevens, Adam Stevens-Waite and Bruce Hammock. Members of the Charles Rhinehart Class will serve as honorary Pall Bearers. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday December 18, 2013 at Pleasant Grove UMC, 1915 Oakdale Road, Charlotte, NC with Pastor Billy Towery and Hospice Chaplain, Linda Miller officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service, at the church.
