Walter Samuel (Sam) Raborn, 95, of Charlotte, NC died Saturday November 2, 2013 at his residence. Sam was born August 8, 1918 in Charlotte, NC to the late Walter and Mamie Garrison Raborn. He served in the Army during WWII and was an employee of the City of Charlotte for many years. Sam loved to restore old cars and was a member of the Queen City Model A Club. Along with his parents, Sam was preceded in death by ten brothers and one grandson, Gregory Wayne Raborn. Sam leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 65 years, Johnsie Riggins Raborn; sons, Lowell (Brenda Hubbard) Raborn of Charlotte, Mark (Tammi) Raborn of Concord; daughter, Marty Raborn (Danny) Moore of North Myrtle Beach, SC; grandsons, Matt (Jessica), Bryan, Kyle, Ryan Raborn; grandaughter, Jennifer Raborn; several nieces and nephews and special friend Annie Gray. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday November 5, 2013 at Derita Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Daigle, Rev. Leroy Grant and Rev. Wayne Raborn (nephew) officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
