Mrs. Vera Mae Howell McAuley Stegall, 80, of Huntersville, NC died Friday May 24, 2013 at the Havens at Highland Creek. Born December 15, 1932 in Elkins, West Virginia she was a daughter of the late Ercle Howell and Russie Wamsley Howell. Mrs. Stegall was a member of the Huntersville Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder, was a member of the VFW in Croft and served on the North Mecklenburg Crime Stoppers Committee. She was employed with the US Postal Service in Huntersville as a mail carrier until her retirement. Funeral Services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Sunday May 26, 2013 at the Huntersville Presbyterian Church with Rev.Vern Dodd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.prior to the service at the church. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Wayne (Vicki) McAuley of Mooresville, Mike (Pam)McAuley of Monroe, Steve (Wanda) McAuley of Cornelius and Diane (Tim).Grachek of Concord; grandchildren, Brandy (Tommy) Donaldson, Jeremy McAuley, Ryan McAuley, Megan McAuley and Michelle Moose; great grandchild, Eden McAuley; sisters, Mary Walters and Margaret Shaver and numerous extended family and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph E. McAuley and Edmund G. Stegall, brothers, Ercle, Joe and James Howell and sister, Virginia Douglas.
