Thomas H, Murray, LTC, PhD died 9/3/1916. He was 90 years old.
Dr. Murray was the son of Thomas G. and Grace Cotes Murray. He is survived by his wife, Marcia Frechette Murray, and children, Thomas G. Murray, William Murray. John Frechette and Elizabeth Belluardo. He was predeceased by his parents and wives Ina Nueske Murray and Jeanne Morris Murray.
Dr. Murray received a BS degree in management from Illinois Institute of Technology, a MS degree in Information Technology from Georgia Tech where he taught ROTC and his earned his PhD in Public Administration from American University.
LTC Murray enlisted in the US Army in 1944. He served as a medical corpsman in the Philippines, in Seasbo and Kobie Japan. He served in the Korean War in the 308th Military Group and in the Korean Military Advisory Group. In 1970 he was assigned to the Army Concept Team in Vietnam. He also learned to fly helicopters there. He later served in the Office Of The Chief of Staff and in the National Defense College.
LTC Murray received the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces while in Vietnam. He received the Air Medal in 1968 for meritorious achievement while participating in air flight. He received the Legion of Merit Medal with Oak Cluster while teaching OTC at Georgia Tech and for service in the office of the Chief of Staff.
* Following his 28 years of service in the Army. LTC Murray went on to serve in the CIA for 18 years. There he was awarded a Certificate for Exceptional Accomplishment. After he left the CIA, he and his wife Jean Morris Murray formed Sequoia Associates, a think tank which did many projects for the US Government. He later devoted time to write a book, Espionage and the United States During the 20th Century.
Services will be held at Arlington Cemetery on a later date.
