Terry Joe Childress, 88, of Denver, NC, formerly from Princeton, WV, passed peacefully on December 17 due to complications related to congestive heart failure. He was preceded in passing by his wife of 43 years Lois; mother, Gladys; father, Ted; brother, Jimmy; sister, Brenda; and his second wife of 21 years, Geraldine.
He leaves behind his daughter, Terri Lynn and husband Allen Hoffer; grandson, Mike; and wife Andrea along with granddaughter Amara as well as stepchildren, Bill, John, David, Kathy, and step-grandchildren he grew to love as his own. Terry grew up in Hemphill, WV spending the majority of his life in Gary Hollow McDowell County.
Terry was a man of many talents – welder, electrician, carpenter, EMT, mechanic, and Sunday school teacher for the Advent Christian Church in Elbert, WV where he was baptized. Terry was a pilot/flight instructor serving as Captain of the Mercer County Civil Air Patrol for a number of years. Terry leaves behind a legacy of always being there when someone needed a helping hand.
Terry was a shining example of what it meant to live your life as a Christian leaving a lasting impression on all those blessed to have known him. Services for the immediate family have not yet been determined.
