Mr. Teddy Paschal Torrence, 82, of Huntersville died on October 11, 2011 surrounded by his loving family at Presbyterian Hospital Charlotte . He was born on November 11, 1928 in Cornelius, a son of the late Ralph and Zettie Torrence. Ted was a graduate of Cornelius High School, employed with Westinghouse Corporation Appliance Sales Division for 20 years and retired from Southern Radio Corporation after 18 years. A Veteran of the Korean War, Ted served as SFC in the US Army with Hq and SVC Company 378th Combat Engineers. He was a member of Long Creek Masonic Lodge # 205, a faithful servant and member of First Baptist Church-Huntersville and was instrumental in founding the former Long Creek Baptist Church where he served as deacon and teacher of the Men's Bible Study Class for 32 years. A dedicated servant to the Lord Jesus Christ, Ted lived as his favorite verse reads, KJV Phil 2:16, "Holding forth the word of life that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain neither labored in vain." He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Martha Drum Torrence; brother, Wayne Torrence; daughters, Patricia (Ricky) Reagan and Kathy (Mike) Moore; grandchildren, Ashley (Jacob) Lyon, Matt (Georgia Hicks) Reagan, Erin (Carlton) Maynor, Jace (Amy) Myers, Anna (Matt) Hamric and great grandchildren, Emma, Jack, and Joseph Hamric. He is also survived by a loving extended family of in-laws, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Thursday evening October 13 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 14 at the First Baptist Church , Huntersville with Dr. Doug Danner, Rev. S.M. Dorton, Dr. Bob Hamblin and Rev. Gene Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery in Cornelius. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church , 119 N Old Statesville Road , Huntersville , NC 28078 .
