Sue Owens Armstrong, age 82, of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 after a long illness. She was born to the late John James Owens and Bertha Morrison Owens on August 1, 1936 in Durham, North Carolina. She is predeceased by her husband, Richard Cooper Armstrong, who passed on November 25, 2012.
Sue attended Ashley Hall and Converse College, ultimately graduating from the University of North Carolina where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Sue and her husband “Dick” lived in Atlanta, Georgia for many years where they raised their family and enjoyed socializing with their many close friends. Sue was known for her love of Charleston, South Carolina where her children were born, where she worked as a tour guide in the Charleston Historic District, and where the family vacationed in the summer. She was an avid reader and always appreciated a good healthy political discussion. She was a long time member of Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church where she actively volunteered.
Sue will be lovingly remembered by her sons Neil (Kim), Ross (Carol), and her daughter Hope (Tom) Howe. She will also be fondly remembered by her four grandchildren Hutson (Alexis), Parker, Hannah (Hunter) Delano and Ryan, along with her nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
A Funeral Service in memory of Sue will be held Saturday, January 20th at 3:00 p.m., at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church, 805 Mount Vernon Highway NW, Atlanta, Georgia. A family burial will directly precede the Funeral Service at 2:45 p.m. in the Memorial Garden.
