In Loving Memory of Steven Paul Humpal

April 24, 1975 – February 15, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Paul Humpal, age 49, of Davidson, North Carolina, on February 15, 2025. He was a devoted son, father, husband, brother, and friend.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Kelly Humpal, whose influence shaped his steadfast character. He is survived by his wife, Monica, and his children, Morgan and Gavin; his father, James Humpal; his sister, Pam Waldeland; his grandmother, Carole Stanton; and an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Steve faced life’s challenges, including his valiant battle with cancer, with an inspiring courage and quiet fortitude that left a lasting impression on all who knew him. The wisdom he shared during his professional endeavors left a lasting impression on his coworkers. His quiet and patient demeanor and huge heart made him a wonderful father and husband. And, his love of playing games brought many together for fun and memorable moments. Steve had an uncanny ability to make others feel seen, heard, and valued—a gift that will remain with all who had the privilege of knowing him. Steve’s greatest pride and joy were his children, Morgan and Gavin, in whom his legacy will forever live on

In honoring Steve’s wishes, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church (575 Brawley School Rd, Mooresville, NC 28117 or online at willchapumc.org). This community, so central to Steve’s life and the life of his family, served as a source of peace and hope during his most challenging times.

A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Saturday, February 22 at 1:00 PM at Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 575 Brawley School Rd., Mooresville NC 28117. There will be a visitation following the service in the church fellowship hall. 

Steve was a light in our lives, a rock in our storms, and a constant reminder of the power of love. His absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Rest peacefully in God’s embrace, dear Steve. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
