Shirley Goforth

Shirley J. Goforth, age 75, passed away peacefully at home April 10, 2017 surrounded by family.

She was born Shirley Jean Wiseman on December 31, 1941 in Marion, N.C. to Joe and Mae Wiseman.

A 1960 graduate of Crossnore High School who later worked for Brad Reagan Enterprise, Spruce Pine, N.C. and retired from Mitchell Distributing in Charlotte, N.C.

She was married to Lacey Goforth on July 2, 1969 in Gaffney, S.C. and had one son Thomas Goforth, whom was her most cherished gift in life.

She is survived by her husband, Lacey Goforth; a son, Thomas (Kailie) Goforth and Randy (Donna) Goforth; 4 sisters, Cleo Greene, Helen Blankenship, Joann Garrison and Brenda Wiseman; grandchildren, Alexandra and expecting grandson Brayden along with many nieces and nephews.

From Shirley’s birth to her death, she was a constant caregiver to all who crossed her path and a cherished surrogate mom to her sisters.

Her life’s passion was her son, Thomas, gardening, cooking, laughing and camping with friends.

Her caregiver spirit, wit and humor could light up a room.

Another angel has gone home and will be forever missed.

Family, friends and others whose lives Shirley touched are invited to join her memorial service at Mt. Zion Methodist Church, Cornelius, N.C. at 4pm on Friday, April 14, 2017.Memorial service officiated by her nephew; Bobby Greene.
