In Loving Memory of Shirley Ann Orr “GRAMMY”
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Ann Orr,who leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and compassion. Our hearts are broken that she will no longer be here with us on earth, but we celebrate the promise of eternal life, and we know we will be reunited with her again.
Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grammy, and friend, who peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on November 2, 2024 at the age of 84. She was born on January 25, 1940 in DuBois, Pennsylvania where she grew up and met her husband of 64 years, Norman Douglas Orr. During their many years together they built a strong, faith-filled home. Shirley was a devoted wife and a guiding light for her children instilling in them the values of integrity, compassion, and unconditional love. She lived a life of kindness and service, always putting others before herself in every aspect of her life.
Her contributions to her community were numerous, always lending a helping hand when needed and using her talents to bless others. While raising her family, Shirley went back to school to earn a degree in Business Education from University of Toledo, where she graduated magna cum laude. She went on to teach Business Education to highschoolers. In her retirement years she graciously gave many hours of her time volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, an organization she supported and believed in. She was known for her generosity, wisdom, and gentle spirit and will be missed by those who were blessed to know her.
Shirley was sadly preceded in death by her son, Chad Orr,who passed in April of this year. Shirley is survived by her loving husband Norman Orr; children: Shaun Orr (Kathleen), Greg Orr (Suzanne); grandchildren: Keegan Orr, Kelsey Orr (Matt), Ian Orr (Chelsey), Mason Orr, Riley Orr; great-grandchildren: Norah Orr, Theo Orr, and Scotti Orr.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in knowing that this faithful woman is now with her Savior, rejoicing in heaven. Proverbs 31:30 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpassed them all.”
