Sherry Robinson Maidment, a beloved figure in her community and a cherished family member, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, at the age of 65. Born on February 24, 1959, in Charlotte, North Carolina, she had a caring nature that brightened the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Sherry dedicated nearly three decades of her life to Energy United, where her commitment and work ethic earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues. Upon her retirement, she embraced this new chapter with joy, relishing both the freedom it offered and the countless moments spent with family and friends.
A proud graduate of West Charlotte High School in 1977, Sherry carried the lessons learned during her early years with her throughout life. Her greatest joy came from her family, her husband Kenneth Maidment, her daughter Amy Shenberger and her husband Bryan, and her loving mother, Carolene Robinson. Together, they created a tapestry of memories woven with laughter, love, and adventure. A particularly treasured memory recounts a playful incident between Sherry and her daughter Amy; in a moment of youthful mischief, Amy snuck up on her mother to playfully bite her leg, prompting Sherry to respond in kind—biting her back as a lesson in lighthearted fun.
Sherry's vibrant personality shone brightly in every endeavor she undertook. She was a person who truly loved to have a good time, often bringing joy and laughter to those around her. Her passions extended beyond her family; she found fulfillment in serving in her church, a calling that saw her lending a hand in the kitchen and assisting with various church events. Her spirited participation in mission trips enriched her life deeply, leaving a lasting impact on both her and the communities she served.
In her leisure, Sherry found joy in day trips with her husband Ken, frequently exploring the breathtaking beauty of the mountains, reading her bible, as well as enjoying cherished moments shared with friends in the warm embrace of camaraderie. Her zest for life and her compassionate heart will not soon be forgotten.
Sherry is preceded in death by her father, Paul Robinson, whose memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved them both.
As family and friends gather to celebrate Sherry's remarkable life, they will do so at Grace Covenant Church in Cornelius, North Carolina. Visitation will be held on November 22, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM. The community is invited to share in the remembrance of a woman who epitomized joy, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to her loved ones.
