Mrs. Selma Gamble Cooke, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law, sister and sister-in-law, passed away January 19, 2013 at Olde Knox Commons in Huntersville at the age of 95. She was born October 5, 1917 to James Franklin Gamble and Mamie Goodrum Gamble. She served her community as a poll worker and helped with blood drives for the Red Cross. Selma dearly loved sewing for her family and friends; she received prizes for her sewing. She was really pleased to have sewn for Betty Feezor, a local television personality. Selma enjoyed crocheting for her family all of whom have treasures created by her. Selma was predeceased by her husband, Moses, an infant daughter, Barbara Elizabeth and her Gamble siblings: Mary, Arthur, Ruth, Annie, James, Bill, Tom, Hazel and Paul. She is survived by her sister, Martha Gamble White of Davidson and her seven children and their spouses; Charles and Midge Cooke of Richmond, VA, Robert and Nancy Cooke of Ithaca, NY, Kenneth and Kay Cooke of Statesville, NC, Betty and Ed Conley of Atlanta, GA, Marilyn and Greg Ainslie of Huntersville, NC, Joe and Kathy Cooke of Union Grove, NC and Martha and Lawson Jenkins of Davidson, NC. She is also survived by cousins, Joe Gamble, Jr of Fredericksburg VA, Legette Goodrum of Cornelius, NC and Morris Gamble of Charlotte, NC. Selma has 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren as well as a large extended family. The Cooke family is so very thankful for the outstanding care given to Selma by the caregivers at Olde Knox Commons at Huntersville. Their compassion and excellent care were always present and very much appreciated by every member of the family. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday January 27, 2013 at Mt.
