Sarah Bernice (Binnie) Horn

Binnie Horn (age 92) of Huntersville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, March 27 2016. Born October 4,1923 in Pennsylvania, she lived most of her life in Akron, Ohio. She married, raised a family and worked at Fallsview Psychiatric Hospital as a Supervisor in Admitting. She moved to Stuart, Florida after retiring in 1984. For the past 10 years she lived in Huntersville, North Carolina with her son Michael and his family.

Binnie, proud of her Irish Catholic heritage, had a deep faith and prayed daily. She enjoyed her weekly appointments with Yvonne and the staff at Trendsetters Hair Salon, reading, playing bingo, and was a tenacious card player. She loved music, especially Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, and was a beautiful singer herself. She always looked forward to cheering for her favorite sports teams, the Carolina Panthers (Keep Pounding) and Cleveland Cavaliers (Lebron James). Everyone she met fell in love with her witty sense of humor and positive outlook on life. Binnie loved her family and spending time with them, as well as her dearest friends, who always kept her spirits high.

Binnie’s loving husband Paul, daughter Diane, and son David preceded her in death as well as her siblings Jim, Wilbur, Gertie, and Irv Hadley and his wife Josephine. She is survived by children: Danny (Julie) Horn of Akron, Ohio, Jim (Kate) Horn of Tallmadge, Ohio, Debbie (Terry) McConnaughey of Palm City, Florida, Michael (Dee) Horn of Huntersville, North Carolina, and daughter-in-law Darlene Horn of Avon Lake, Ohio; grandchildren: Kelley (Mike), Kim(Dino), Chelsea (Nathan), Courtney, Cassady (Dean), Patrick, Emily, Mathew, Michael, Chris, and Jessica; great-grandchildren: Lily, Logan and Piper; many nieces and nephews; and all the family pets she adored.

The family would like to thank the staff at Dr. Ellison’s (Davidson Clinic),  Novant Hospital Huntersville, and Huntersville Oaks for their loving care.

In honor of her wishes there will be no funeral service, private memorials honoring Binnie’s life are welcomed.
