Sam Sherwood Finch

Sam Sherwood Finch, of Denver N.C., joined his Creator on August 21, 2015 at the age of 76. He is survived by his wife Mary (Gast) Finch, son Chad (Lori) Finch with granddaughters Adleigh and Hollis, of Raleigh, NC; daughter Lisa (Kermitt) Taylor, of Sherrills Ford, NC; brother Jack (JoAnne) Finch, of OR; and sister Judith (Wayne) Martins of TX. Sam was born in Clintonville WI, attended Clintonville High, served 4 years in the US Air Force in Germany and attended WSU-Oshkosh, WI receiving his BS degree in 1966. He married Mary Gast in 1965. Sam provided loving care for his family through his career in the meat industry which began in WI and culminated in KY, fulfilling his career dreams as President/CEO of a family operation. He also served on the Board of Directors for a NE company. He enjoyed serving as a Reserve Police Officer in TN and as a Deputy Sheriff in TX. His real love was his retirement farm in KY. The KY farm allowed him to play out his dreams of connecting with the land. A Celebration of Life will be held at Salem United Methodist Church, Denver, NC on Saturday, August 29, 2015 with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 am. The family requests that any memorials be made to Salem United Methodist Church, Denver, NC or a cancer or Hospice foundation of your choice.
