In Loving Memory of
Ruth Marie Kuly
August 10, 1926 – April 26, 2022
Ruth Marie Kuly, 95, of Davidson, NC passed away peacefully with family by her side on April 26, 2022. Ruth (Ruthie) was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late James and Louise Wolfe. Along with her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John Peter Kuly, sister Nancy Wolfe Clausen, and brother Philip Wolfe.
After marrying John, an Air Force pilot, she lived in Japan for 3 years. Throughout her life, Ruth perfected the art of moving state to state and continent to continent as her husband moved up the corporate ladder. From 1977 to 1980, she lived in Kuwait where she and daughter Barbara quickly learned every souk has a gold center to be explored with passion. Ruth was a wonderful, dedicated, loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great grandmother who always put her family first and was a steadfast advocate for everyone’s dreams and aspirations.
Ruth is survived by her loving daughters, Karen (Ken) Komo of Gainesville, VA and Barbara (the late Robert) Philiotis of Harrisburg, NC, and cherished sons James (Beth) of Glen Mills, PA, Stephen of Florence, OR, and Kenneth of Davidson, NC. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren she was immensely proud of: Katharine Kirkham (David), John P. Kuly II (Meghan), Ashley Charles (Paul), Tylor Marie Kuly, Matthew Kuly (Hannah), Rachel Kuly, Bryn Philiotis, and Alex Philiotis; and 6 great grandkids she always called “her greatest legacy”: Wyatt & Zachary Kirkham, Erin, Ben, & Ryan Kuly, and PJ Charles.
As many families know and experience, Alzheimer’s disease is known as “the long goodbye”. And while that was true in Ruth’s case, her loving heart never failed her. Even at the end, she made every effort to say, “I love you”. That meant the world to us. We love you, too, Mom!!
Mom…
And every night when we look up and see a certain star…
We will know within our hearts exactly where you are.
On this day we say good-bye as you now depart.
Although far from our touch, never far from our hearts.
The family wishes for interment to be a private affair. We will be planning memorials to honor our mother’s life. Please keep our wonderful mother, Ruth Marie Kuly, in your thoughts and prayers. She is now at peace and our Angel in Heaven.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 8180 Greensboro Drive, Suite 400, McLean, VA 22102 or online by clicking Donate Online.
