Ruby Lewis Hyder Lynch, 91, of Huntersville, N.C. passed away peacefully on October 26, 2018 at Olde Knox Commons Nursing Facility. Ruby was born in Rutherford County, N.C. on July 30, 1927 to the late Worth Theodore Hyder and Helen Louvenia Lewis. She was married to Daniel Bickett Lynch who preceded her in death, April 17, 1987. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Worth Theodore Hyder Jr.
Ruby was a graduate of Central High School in Rutherford County, N.C. and the Women's College of Greensboro N.C. where she graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Home Economics. She taught Home Economics at Long Creek High School and taught adult education sewing classes at Central Piedmont Community College In Charlotte. She was also an interim and substitute teacher for North Mecklenburg High School. Ruby was a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Huntersville.
She was very active in the church serving as an Elder and also a Sunday School teacher for many years. Ruby was a loving mother and grandmother, and loved spending time with her family. She was a very compassionate woman, always willing to help those in need. She is survived by her children. Susan Miller (Joe) of Marion, NC. Cathy Hackney (Jim) of Bostic, NC. Carol Yount (Mark) of Olin, NC. Tom Lynch (Melanie) of Huntersville, NC. Julie Dorsey (Jeff) of Lawndale, NC., as well as nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Ruth Marshall (Sam) of Milledgeville, Georgia, along with several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Friday November 9th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC. The funeral service will be held on Saturday November 10th at 11:00 am at Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Huntersville, NC. Burial will be at 3:00pm at Mt. Creek Baptist Church in Rutherfordton, NC.
