Ross Arthur Porter, Sr.

Ross Arthur Porter, Sr., of Cornelius, NC, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2016 at Levine-Dickson Hospice House.
Ross was born on July 8, 1945 in Rockford, Illinois to the late Harry and Mary Porter. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed. Ross graduated from Auburn High School in Rockford, Illinois in 1963 and Southern Illinois University in 1967 and was a salesman for Proctor & Gamble. He was also a member in good standing in the AA community. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Matthew E. Brown.
Ross leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Carole Porter, of Cornelius, NC; his son, Ross, Jr. and his wife Stephanie, of Cornelius, NC; his daughter, Christina Porter, of Woodland Hills, CA; his sister, Rita Porter, of Belvidere, IL; his granddaughters, Kelli Porter, Jessica Porter and Jocelyn Porter; and his nieces Ann Porter, April Wilhoit and Autumn Porter.
A visitation will be held from 7:00-9:00 pm on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, 16901 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, NC.
A funeral will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, 16901 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, NC.
Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Ashton Cemetery in Ashton, Illinois.
