Rosemary Alexander Raynal, 78, of Davidson, North Carolina, wife of Charles Edward Raynal, III, passed away Friday, July 19, 2024. She was a member of Davidson College Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Stephen Minister. 

Rosemary was born on January 6, 1946 in Bainbridge, Maryland, the first of four children of R. Lewis Alexander, Sr. and Julia Anne McKnight Alexander, formerly of Elkin, North Carolina. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and her Master of the Arts in English from Southeastern Louisiana State University in Hammond, Louisiana. She was a dedicated teacher, educating high school and college students for over four decades, including teaching English at Davidson College. Through her relationships with students and through the church, she led youth and adult mission trips in many places around the world. 

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her survivors include her husband, the Reverend Charles E. Raynal, III; her two sons, Charles Edward Raynal, IV, and his wife Ann Brooke Lewis Raynal, of Raleigh, and Jeremy McKnight Raynal, and his wife Mia Theresa Bullecer Comeros, of Honolulu, Hawaii; and grandchildren, Rosemary Trowbridge Raynal, Margaret Latané Raynal, and Jones Edgar Comeros Raynal.

A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at Davidson College Presbyterian Church on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 11 o’clock. The family will receive friends following the service at the Congregation House across the street from the church at 218 Concord Road.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Davidson College Presbyterian Church, The Pines at Davidson Chaplain’s fund, or another charity of choice.
