Roger Clayton Whittington, 66, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016 at Carolina’s Medical Center, Charlotte, N.C. Roger was born Oct. 22, 1949 in Charleston, W.Va., to the late William and Frances Thaxton Whittington.
Roger was a devoted husband, loving father and proud grandfather. His smile and his love for people brought joy to all lives he touched. He was most happy surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren. Roger was the former co-owner of Huntersville Ford and enjoyed classic cars. He loved going to the beach, traveling and cooking holiday dinners. Roger attended Grace Covenant Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving family: wife, Judith Rhodes Whittington; daughter, Monica Whittington Herr and husband, Jeff, of Davidson, N.C.; son, Jason Whittington and wife, Katherine, of Cowans Ford, N.C.; grandchildren, Jacob Ryan Herr, Zachary Davis Herr and Tyler Clayton Whittington; brother, William Whittington; sister, Palma Dailey; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville, N.C. Funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be held Friday, February 26, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Chapel of Peace, 6839 Sissonville Dr. Sissonville, W.Va.
