Robert Edward MacCarrick, lovingly known as "Pop Pops," passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2025, in Cornelius, North Carolina, at the age of 91. Born on December 5, 1933, in Enfield, New York, Robert lived a life marked by devotion, love, and cherished relationships.
As a devoted father and loving husband for over 60+ years, Robert was the cornerstone of his family. He is survived by his sons, Jay MacCarrick and his wife Beth, and Tim MacCarrick and his wife Lisa. Robert took immense pride in his grandchildren: Kaitlyn and her husband Joe, Matthew, Timothy and his wife Courtney, Sean and his wife Sydney, Ryan and his wife Nicole, and Kyle and his fiancé Olivia. He also leaves behind a legacy of great-grandchildren, including Hazel, Harper, Aurora, Eloise, and Dawson, who will remember his warmth and kindness.
Robert spent the last 25 years of his life in Lake Placid, Florida, where he forged many friendships and brought joy to those around him before relocating to North Carolina. His vibrant personality shone through in his passions; he was an avid softball player into his eighties and continued to enjoy golfing even in his nineties.
In addition to his immediate family, Robert is survived by his sister Sharon MacCarrick and many nieces and nephews who will mourn his absence.
He served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, an experience that shaped him and instilled a sense of duty and commitment that he carried throughout his life.
Robert joins his dear wife Lynne VanNostrand MacCarrick, his beloved parents, Edward and Barbara Bell MacCarrick, and his brother Theodore MacCarrick in eternal rest.
His legacy of love and the memories shared will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him. Robert will be dearly missed, and his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
