Robert Parks Houston, Sr. age 89, of Huntersville, NC passed away on January 2, 2021.
He was born in Charlotte, NC on February 28, 1931 to the late John Frank Houston and Addie Parks Houston. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Marshall and Neal, and his sister, Nancy Honeycutt.
Robert is survived by his wife of 71 years, Betty Kidd Houston; son, Robert Houston, Jr. and wife Patsy of Huntersville, NC; son, David also of Huntersville; daughter, Judy Jamieson and husband Mac of Harpersville, AL; daughter, Janet Booker and husband Donald of Colbert, GA.; and niece, Donna Hollar and husband Bill of Charlotte who did so much to help him in his later years. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jessica Grice and husband, Jason; Elizabeth Bunton and husband, Jacob; Evan Jamieson; Beatty Jamieson and wife, Lynell; Rebecca Hybl and husband, Ryan; Josh Booker and wife, Kayla; as well as six great-grandchildren.
Robert graduated from Long Creek High School and enjoyed a long career with Southern Bell where he was an instructor at the Greensboro, NC Training Center. His busy life was filled with many interests and hobbies. His telephone company friends, neighbors and the members of his beagle and pigeon clubs were important in his life. Robert was a special person with a servant’s heart. He was kind, patient, and a friend to everyone.
A private service will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made in Robert's memory to Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Huntersville, NC.
