Robert Holden

May 21, 1927 — January 13, 2013

Mr. Holden (85), of Cornelius, died Sunday, January 13, 2013, at his residence. He was born May 21, 1927 in Nebo, NC, son of the late Raleigh Gaston Holden and Bonnie Ruth Ray Holden. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 17, at 11:00 AM, at Northdale BaptistChurch, with the Reverend McCray Holmes officiating. Interment will follow at NorthlakeMemorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church an hour prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. Mr. Holden was a US Navy veteran of World War II. He served as a ship's cook 3rd Class and plank owner on the USS Comstock, and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He worked at Employees Mutual Casualty Company for forty years where he retired as president in 1992. He was a charter member of NorthdaleBaptist Church, where he served as treasurer and deacon. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Frances A. Holden; two sons, Ken and Keith Holden, both of Cornelius; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
