Robert Joseph Craven

September 19, 1939 — June 14, 2018

Bob Craven, age 78, of Denver, NC, died June 14, 2018 as the result of trauma from an automobile accident with complications from an underlying heart condition.  He was born in Louisville, KY, the son of the late Joe and Lorene Craven.  He was an Army Veteran, retired owner of a company that cleaned up hazardous waste across the East Coast, and a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.  He volunteered for years at East Lincoln Christian Ministry delivering meals.  He loved all things outdoors – hunting, fishing, boating, hiking and biking.  When he discovered shag dancing, he found a new family in the Lake Norman Shag Club.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy, and his brother-in-law, Ron Crossland.  He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Karon Craven, his daughter, Laura Shade (Phil), his son, Mark, his brother, Steve Craven (Karen), and sisters Dorothy Crossland, Shirley Malchow, Becky Craven, and Kathy Sullivan (Tom), his sister-in-law, Dian, two grandsons, Dustin and Jamie, five great-grandchildren, and lots of loving nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Craven will be held by the family.  Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home is assisting the family.  Friends may offer condolences to the family at www.raymerfh.com
