Robert F. Blythe or Big Bob as he was called, age 87, peacefully passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 at his home surrounded by loved ones.
He leaves his wife of 69 years Peggy Blythe; his children, Bonnie Sholar, Steve Blythe, David Blythe, Ginger Frazier, and Brigette Edwards; his brother, Joe Blythe; his 10 grandchildren; his 11 great-grandchildren; as well as, many adopted family members, and friends.
Born and raised in Charlotte, he was the son of Monroe and Bertha Blythe. In his early years he grew up working on his parents’ dairy farm. He met his wife Peggy Lindsay and they were married September 28, 1947.
Bob served as constable of Mecklenburg County for a number of years. He was a life-long respected part of the community and a Long Creek Lodge member for over 60 years where he served two terms as master.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a big man with a big heart and made many donations to charities over the years, as well as worked with specialized community programs such as United Christian Prison Ministries and opened his home up to many people in need.
The service will be performed by Rev. Stuart Butler and Rev. Wade Ogle at Trinity UMC, 6230 Beatties Ford Rd., Charlotte, NC 28216 on Thursday, February 2, 2017. Visitation at 12:45, funeral at 2pm, and burial directly to follow. The service will be performed by Rev. Stuart Butler and Rev. Wade Ogle at Trinity United Methodist Church on.
