Richard "Rich" Sabino, 74, of Charlotte, NC passed away on November 30th, 2020 with his family by his side after a long battle with cancer.
He was born in Utica, NY to the late Samuel and Theresa Sabino. Rich graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1965. He served in the US Army from 1965 -1967 where he was stationed in South Korea. He enjoyed working for himself as a contractor for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marsha Hollis; his beloved daughters, Lauren Jacksina and her husband Marc and their sons, Lucas and Ian; Melissa Curran and her sons Brady and Jake and their father Matt Curran; and Dawn Sabino and her partner, Todd Little. His siblings, Peter Sabino (Shannen) of South Daytona Beach, Florida, Dennis Sabino (Anita) of Hickory, NC, Sam Sabino (Marlene) of Huntersville, NC, Geary Sabino (Sharon) of Baldwinsville, NY, and Georgianna Pudney (Daryl) of Charlotte, NC, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Rich had many joys, but a few stood out; visits from his grandsons, Panthers football games, and outings to the bar where he met up with friends. The man could also make a mean Utica tomato pie. Per his request there will be no services. He asked if you wish to honor him, play the song, "And When I Die" by Blood, Sweat, and Tears, and pour yourself a drink. Cheers.
Just like the song by Frank Sinatra says, Rich also did it his way, and we wouldn't have had it any other way.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region.
