Richard McArthur

August 23, 1961 — January 27, 2025

Emblem

Richard Charles McArthur went to be with the Lord on January 27, 2025.

Richard was born in Omaha, Nebraska on August 23, 1961 to parents Donald & Mary Thomas McArthur. Richard grew up in Ft. Lauder-dale, Florida.

Richard was a 3 sport athlete in High School playing Football, Basketball & Track. In 1979, Richard was the Class A state champion in the Shot Put & Discus where he set school and state records. Richard went to Westminster Academy & was recently named to the Athletic Hall of Fame.

Richard received his undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University where he played football & track. After graduating he got a tryout and had a brief stint with the Miami Dolphins. After his athletic career he went on to receive a Masters degree from Ohio University.

After graduating from NCSU Richard went into the army joining the 82nd Airborne, that included a tour in Italy with the 3/325 Recon. He competed in the Armed Forced games in Germany where he won the shot put event.

After the Army Richard entered the financial services industry where he worked until 2017. In 2017, Richard suffered a debilitating stroke which caused him to lose his ability to walk.

Never depressed with what happened to him he took great comfort knowing the Lord loved him & knew the Lord ALWAYS works things in his children lives for good. He was truly a man of faith who knew his paradise wasn’t on this Earth but in the eternal afterlife.

Richard is reunited in heaven with his father Donald H McArthur of Jacksonville, Florida, his mother Mary T McArthur of Cornelius, NC, and his sister Ann Marie McArthur of Cornelius, NC.

Richard is survived by two wonderful sons: Christian Thomas McArthur of Huntersville, NC & Daniel Patrick McArthur of Mooresville, NC, who both loved him dearly and provided him great pride and joy.

Richard fully knew that his only hope in the afterlife was to repent of his sins and have faith in The Lord Jesus Christ, and claimed the promises of God that he would be saved. His understanding of Holy Scripture is demonstrated in the Westminster Confession of Faith. He was truly a man of faith and would want everyone to know the Grace of God.
