Reverend Jerome L. Null of Cornelius, NC was born on November 30, 1937 in Middletown, OH and left his earthly life on January 15, 2015 at Levine and Dickson Hospice House of Huntersville, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma and Harold Null of Middletown, OH. He graduated from Fairview High School in Dayton, OH, and attended Wilmington College in Wilmington, OH. After transferring to Transylvania College in Lexington, KY, he graduated with a bachelor's degree and attended Lexington Theological Seminary. He served Old Union Christian Church in Lexington as a student pastor and upon ordination served as Pastor at Broad Street Christian Church in Columbus, OH for two years before joining the United States Army. He served 2 tours in Vietnam, two years in California, and while in Alexandria, VA stationed at Ft. Belvoir, he received a Masters degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. He then went to Advanced training in New York and while there, completed his doctoral studies at Drew University. His Army career continued with a three-year assignment in Germany and four years at Ft. Bragg, NC. After retirement from the military, he lived in Black Mountain, NC for six years and was called to serve Northside Christian Church in Fountain City, TN, a suburb of Knoxville. Following nine years of Ministry there, he returned to retirement in Black Mountain , NC, where he resided until moving to Cornelius, NC in 2012. Survived by wife, Donna Snider Null of Cornelius, NC, daughter, Nancy Sue Sisler, of Vass, NC, stepsons, Howard E. Tefft, Jr. and wife, Carolyn of Cornelius, NC, and Kirk E. Tefft and wife, Barbara of Valdosta, GA; grandson Aaron Sisler, and wife, Bridget of Holly Springs, NC, Howard E. Tefft III, of Cornelius, NC, Chad Hess of Atlanta, GA, granddaughters Brandy Baker of Quitman, GA and Dana Smith of Yipsilanti, MI and 5 great grandchildren; brother, Thomas E. Null and wife, Nancy of Hemet, CA and niece, Shelly Null of Venice, CA. A family celebration of life was held at Hospice of Huntersville, and a larger celebration will be held at a later date at First Christian Church, Black Mountain, NC. Arrangements are in care of Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville, NC. In his honor, contributions may be made to Hospice of Lake Norman, 705 Griffith Street, Suite 203, Davidson, NC 28036 or Christmount Christian Assembly, Scholarship Fund for Autism, 222 Fern Way, Black Mountain, NC 28711.
