Rev. Zane Grey Norton, 91, of Harrisburg, NC, passed away Tuesday October 27, 2015 at 1st Assembly Living Center in Concord. Born April 16, 1924 to the late Manly and Harriet Norton, he served as a United Methodist minister from 1952-1990. Rev. Norton served in the Navy during World War II and graduated from Duke University with an AB in 1949 and a BD in 1952. Rev. Norton served the Western North Carolina conference with churches in Shelby, Crouse, Winston Salem, Huntersville, Gastonia, Mooresville, Charlotte, Greensboro, and Statesville. Along with his parents, Rev. Norton was preceded in death by his loving wife Elizabeth, his son; Edward Zane Norton, his daughters; Alisa Norton Ault and Sharon Janelle Norton, 1 brother and 1 sister. He is survived by his son, Laron Clark Norton (Patricia) of Monroe; grandchildren, Alexandra Ault and Nicholas, Logan, Mathew Norton; nieces, Judy Woods and her husband John, Myra Midgett; and nephews, Ronald Clark, Wallace Clark and his wife Debbie, and Dennis Clark and his wife Wanda, Manley Midgett and his wife Jolee. A Funeral service will be held Saturday October 31, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at the chapel at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC. The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Harrisburg Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
