Regina V. Kilcarr. "Jean" (Age 87) Of Huntersville, North Carolina and formerly of Vienna, Virginia died of natural causes on March 5, 2016. She was the devoted Mother of Marianne Kilcarr Umstead, Paul Jr., and Kevin and beloved wife of Paul T Kilcarr, Sr. “Paul”. In addition to her children, she is survived by her Grandchildren Ashley Umstead Brown, Joseph Kilcarr, Lauren Umstead Schmidt and her great grandchild Marlee Brown.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul T. Kilcarr, Sr. “Paul”, and her sisters Carol Hollinger and Maureen Lucey.
Jean attended Marymount College in Manhattan. Upon graduation from school Jean took a job with US Rubber working on math problems for the firm. She was always very proud of her efforts there and spoke of it often and her ability to solve problems.
She married the love of her life Paul, they traveled the world having Marianne in Wichita, KS, Paul Jr in Kaiserslauten, Germany and then back to New York for the birth of Kevin.
Jean enjoyed designing and sewing dresses and other items. She eventually started her own small business designing wedding, bridesmaids, and other dresses. She did quite a few weddings and was well regarded for her work.
At one point, Mother Superior Magellan, the President of Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia at the time asked if she would assist with some of their fashion design school classes as her mother did in NYC. Jean turned down the offer due to her work load with her wedding dress business.
Back in Lakevale Estates in Vienna, Virginia, where Jean lived from 1967 until 2006, Jean was a prominent fixture in the garden club and other activities in the community.
Unfortunately, Jean, late in life, fell victim to the terrible disease of dementia. Paul and Kevin moved her to North Carolina so that she could be cared for in safety and comfort.
The internment will be at 1 pm on May 21st at Columbia Gardens Cemetery 3411 Arlington Blvd near Glebe Rd. Arlington, Va. 22201: (703) 527-1235
She will be buried next to Paul T. Kilcarr, Sr.
