Dr. Regina Carol (Baron) Brunner, 85, of Davidson, NC passed away on December 11, 2024.
Regina was born in Orange, NJ on October 24, 1939 to the late Theodore Baron and Caroline Baron. She received her PhD in Mathematics from Syracuse University in 1971 during a time when not many women received advanced degrees in the field. Her desire to encourage women in mathematics continued through her career. Regina was a professor at Cedar Crest College, a women's college in Allentown, PA. At Cedar Crest College, she spearheaded and organized an annual mathematics awareness event for young girls in the Lehigh Valley to learn more about STEM fields.
Regina is survived by her husband, Dr. Carl Brunner; daughter, Dr. Brigitta Brunner-Johnson and son-in-law, Troy Johnson; daughter, Dr. Larissa Huber and son-in-law, Dr. Ken Huber; and grandchildren, Nicholas Huber, Kai Johnson, Matthew Huber, and Caroline Huber.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 17 from 9:30 am - 10:30 am at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC. A graveside service will take place at Mt Zion UMC Community Cemetery in Cornelius, NC following the visitation.
