Peggy D. Stout

Peggy Dickinson Stout passed away on February 2nd 2014 of cancer. .She was a strong and independent woman who faced this diagnoses and kept her dignity,and sense of humor to the end. Her ashes will be laid to rest on Monday March 24th at noon. Friends and family are welcome at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery 110 Montford Point Rd. Jacksonville N.C. Born October 29,1929 in Laurel Mississippi to the late Sidney and Myrtle Dickinson, Peggy wore many hats in her lifetime. Working for the Pensacola News Journal and then in 1959 for WCOA radio with Ted Cassidy and Clarine Porter, Peg's show, called "Moonlight Serenade," started her career in broadcasting. She went on to an all girls radio station, W DEB where she starred in her own radio show. "Pegs Platter Party" gave her access to fly with the Blue Angles, interview Liberace, and conduct the very first underwater interview in Florida with a woman that was attempting the world record for living underwater. Moving to Baltimore Maryland in 1962, she became a Clairol consultant where she later met and married a wonderful man; Jack Stout. Becoming a military wife, she devoted her time to raising her children and traveling with her family from Cherry Point NC, to Hawaii, then California, and eventually retiring to Jacksonville NC. Her passion was always cooking even when she worked full time. Her dishes are famous from her crab cakes, deviled eggs,and baked beans, to many scrumptious desserts that everyone enjoyed. She cooked like she lived;with passion and conviction. She always brought dishes to any gathering and gave countless recipes to everyone. After the death of her husband, she moved again to the Lake Norman area. Finding another calling she re-entered the work force as a jewelry clerk for Stein-mart in Cornelius. Her passion for excellence lead her to countless awards for employee of the month. She enjoyed the people she worked with and served. Still driving at 84, and independent as ever, she lived her life to the fullest. She was preceded in death by her husband Marine Master Gunnery Sgt. Jack Stout, brother Faron Dickinson and Rudolph Dickinson and brother in laws: Sonny Stout, Bob Stout, Paul Clutter, Tom Stout,and Gene Stout. Survived by brother Mickey Dickinson,wife Joan and children Scottie, Michael, and Lisa, and their children. Cousins Jessie and Maude Dickinson of California ,Virginia Bullock of Seattle Washington and family members in Laurel Mississippi. Cherishing her life long memories are her daughter,Charlotte Sabat and her sons Sydney and Jeremy; her daughter Peggy Sharee Dykstra, husband Jim, and their children, Jessica, Jacob, Amanda, Emily, and Michael including 3 great grandchildren , her son Charles Randolf McCraw, his wife Karen, his children Andy,Rachel,Catherine, and Becky and 11 great grandchildren.
