Peggy Beatty Auten

Peggy Beatty Auten, 85, of Huntersville, NC passed away on January 19, 2022. She was born on December 26, 1936 in Huntersville, NC; the daughter of the late Thomas Rosco Roberston and Ellen Elizabeth Robertson.

Along with her parents, Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Thomas Auten and brother, Harold Dean Beatty.

She is survived by her son, Wayne (Kathy) Auten; daughter, Rhonda (Dale) Hathcock; granddaughter, Hollie (Charles) Gregory; grandson, Kent Neely; grandson, Chaise (Heather) Auten; grandson, Cole (Lauren) Neely; grandson, Chad (Jessica) Auten; grandson, Cameron Auten; great grandson, Austin (Gabby) Gregory; great grandson, Jordan Gregory; great grandson, Cayson Gregory; great granddaughters, Olivia, Maelyn, and Tyler; great grandsons, Samuel, and Davis(coming soon- April 2022); loving companion and dog, Rascal; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Peggy was a Christian who was strong in her faith. She was a faithful member of Mt. Mourne Church of God. Peggy had a zeal for life and loved nothing more than spending time and sharing her life with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Peggy also enjoyed traveling with her family. Whether it was shopping, going to different places to eat, traveling to the mountains, or a trip to the front porch to take in the sunshine; Peggy believed in making memories with those she held dear. 

She was known for her independence, enjoying an occasional pajama day and her exceptional baking. Her chicken and dumplings, lemon pound cakes, banana pudding and her dressing and gravy every Thanksgiving were family favorites. She was also known for always making food for people in the church. This was her service and ministry to others.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 10:00AM at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, located at 16901 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, NC 28078. The funeral service will follow at 11:00AM with Pastor Donald Caldwell officiating. Peggy will be laid to rest at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery in Cornelius, NC following the funeral service.
