Pauline Hoover Kidd

Pauline Hoover Kidd Mrs. Kidd, 97, of Huntersville, NC passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2013. She was the daughter of Doras Avery Hoover and Iola Jane Howard Hoover of Gaston County. As a child in church, she first discovered her love of singing hymns. After moving to the Hopewell community, she lent her voice to the Hopewell Presbyterian Church choir for more than four decades. Polly was a bookkeeper for Major Appliances on Morehead Street, Charlotte, for 20 years. As a vendor at the Mecklenburg County Market on Harding Place, she sold fresh vegetables along with her delicious baked goods for 27 years. Polly served as the first woman Elder of Hopewell. For more than ten years, she served as treasurer of the church, as well as treasurer for the church's child daycare. She was preceded in death by her first husband, J.P. Warren, by brothers Howard and Fred, and by sisters Edith Wright, Helen Garrett and Louise Saunders. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, William Puett Kidd, and by her nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Hopewell Presbyterian Church,10500 Beatties Ford Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078 where Polly was the church's oldest member. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am, Saturday November 9, 2013 at Hopewell Presbyterian Church with Rev. Allan Purtill officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family.
