Paul "Ken" Kenneth Hageman

October 15, 1946 — February 9, 2025

Statesville

Paul Kenneth Hageman, known to his family and friends as Ken, was born on October 15, 1946, in Danville, Illinois. He passed away on February 9, 2025, surrounded by family in Statesville, North Carolina, after courageously fighting Multiple Myeloma for 13 years. Throughout his journey, Ken remained committed to contributing to cancer research by participating in clinical drug studies, demonstrating his strength and determination.

Ken's educational journey culminated in a degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he focused on printing, graduating in 1968. Following his graduation, he began his career at Case-Hoyt, where he sharpened his skills until his relocation to Charlotte, NC in 1979. It was there that he joined Washburn Graphics, which later became Cadmus. Ultimately, Ken left the corporate world to pursue his passion for printing by starting his own business, Davidson Screen Printers, where he worked until his retirement in 2015.

Ken’s personal life was marked by his devotion to family and friends, and he cherished spending time with his grandchildren. In his later years, following the untimely passing of his first wife and love, Christine in 1992, he reconnected with his college sweetheart Elizabeth and married her in 1993.

Beyond his professional achievements, Ken was a man of many talents and interests. He was a gifted woodworker, amassing an impressive collection of tone woods for his passion for making guitars. His love for music was evident as he was an avid guitar player, with a particular affinity for classical guitar. Ken's heart found joy in simple pleasures, such as walking barefoot on the beach, where he felt most at peace. Many memories were forged through shared experiences, including a memorable trip to Italy with his wife, Elizabeth, brother and sister-in-law.

Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Hageman; his daughters, Sarah Skeath and her husband Phil, and Emma Bigelow and her husband Kiwan; as well as his stepchildren, Dorothy Munoz and her husband Edward, Matthew Highland and his wife Caroline, and Laura Highland and her partner Stephen Burgess. His legacy carries on through his cherished grandchildren: Carter, Jessica, Christina, Rachel, Elias, Morgan, Mackenzie, Mariner, and Remy. He is also remembered by his sister-in-law, Darla Hageman, his niece and nephew, Laura Buckley and Jeff Hageman and close family friends Mario and Esmeralda Mireles, children Halle Campos and her husband Jack, Esme and Mario.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Everett Hageman and Effie Louise Hageman, as well as his wife, Christine Hageman, and brother, Thomas Hageman.
