Patricia Ann Mead, known to her loved ones as “Grannie”, “Mom”, “The Clerk” or simply “Pat” passed away on January 25, 2018 at the age of 74. Pat was born in Fort Erie, Ontario on December 2, 1943 to the late Bruce Gunn and Hazel Gunn. Pat spent most of her life in Buffalo, NY before moving to Cornelius, NC.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Philip John Mead, sister Barbara Tierney daughter Cindy DeRose and son Dan Mead along with five grandchildren Madison, Emma, Virginia, Annie and Sam.
Pat received her BA and Masters from the State University of NY at Buffalo. She went on to teach in the Buffalo Public School System. Pat then spent several years representing vendors in licensed professional sports products before turning her attention to public service. Pat was elected the Town Clerk of Hamburg NY in 1980 where she served two terms. After moving to North Carolina, Pat built a successful commercial real estate practice that she continued to manage until the end.
Pat was also very active in community service as a member of the Junior League and Vice Chairman of the Democratic Party of Erie County NY. But most important to Grannie was her family which always came first.
A memorial service will be held on March 17th at 11:00am at St. Albans Episcopal Church, 301 Caldwell Ln. Davidson, NC. Memorial donations in memory of Pat can be made to YMCA of Greater Charlotte at www.ymcacharlotte.org or Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region at www.hpccr.org.
