Pansy Ruth Blackburn passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016 in the comfort of her home in Davidson, NC. She was born on June 14, 1934 in Asheville, NC, the Daughter of the late George and Mable Waycaster. Pansy was a 1953 Graduate of Emma High School in the Asheville area. She Graduated from Berea College in 1958, and later went on to get her Masters Degree in Education from University of Cincinnati. Pansy was a School Teacher for 30 years starting in Cincinnati and for many years in Mt. Healthy, Ohio. She married “Blackie” Harold Blackburn in 1960. They recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.
Pansy is survived by her Husband Harold Blackburn, Son Scott Blackburn, Daughter-in-Law Janelle Blackburn, Grandson Drayton Blackburn, Granddaughter Meghan McGrath and her Husband Bryan McGrath, great-grandchild Jackson McGrath, and four siblings Brother George Waycaster, Jr. his wife Pat , Sister Mamie Painter, Sister Mildred Williamson her Husband Lynn, Brother Leonard Waycaster with his beloved Sue.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 in the chapel at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville, NC. Following the service a reception will be held in the chapel.
