Nelson Woodrow Camp Jr., 53, of Denver, NC passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021. Nelson was born in Sandusky, OH on January 13, 1968 to Nelson (Nelly) Woodrow Camp and Lois Jean (Stradtman) King.
Nelson is preceded in death by his father Nelson (Nelly) Woodrow Camp and younger brother Curt Camp both of Sandusky, Ohio. Also by his paternal grandparents, Wilson and Agnes (Downing) Camp of North Fort Myers, FL and his maternal grandparents Richard and Madalaine (Potter) Stradtman of Sandusky, OH. His special maternal great grandmother, Grandma Bessie and also a special great uncle Willie Stradtman (Jean) of Sandusky, OH. He was also preceded by another uncle Larry Camp (Diane).
Survived by his mother Lois Jean (Stradtman) King and Step-Father Wayne King both of Denver, NC; his two children that he loved dearly and thought the world of: daughter Kirsten Camp (Cam B.) and son Cameron Camp both of Ohio; two sisters Cara Camp (Tom Penrod) of Sandusky, OH and Kendra (Camp) Didion of Castalia, OH; brother, Kyle Camp of Sandusky, OH; a half-brother, Marc Keech of CA; step-sister, Lesa (King) Smith (Patrick); step-brother, Dwayne King both of Oak Harbor, OH; nieces, Kayli Camp, Kori Penrod, Ambria Didion, and Madi Didion (Anthony) and Sarah King; nephews, Curt Camp (Brooke), Nick Camp, Tate Smith and Parker Smith; great nieces and nephews which are Kayden, Cali, Kinley, Chase and Maliah; aunts and uncles: uncles, Richard Stradtman (Cheryal), Marleen (Camp) & Mike Decaro, Jim & Diane Camp, Terry & Sue Camp, and Jerry Camp.
He is also survived by two very special people his fiancée Veronica and her son Mason with whom he resided with in their home in Denver, NC.
Nelson was a former owner of two restaurant including Bear’s Family Restaurants in Ohio. He also was a long time truck driver owning many trucks over the years and most recently working for Ryerson of Charlotte the last several years delivering steels throughout the southeast.
Nelson began thoroughly enjoying a very active life from a young age beginning with boy scouts, playing football and baseball leading to eventually joining the wrestling and swimming teams at Perkins High School in Ohio from which he graduated. His love for the outdoors became more prevalent once he moved to North Carolina where he became a huge fan of NASCAR, boating and camping on a regular basis. He liked following sports of all kind and even playing golf when he had a chance. He had a love for music, which ranged from country to island music. Nelson is also an avid traveler and even became a licensed scuba diver to get the full experience on many trips.

Nelson’s visitation will be Friday, May 7, 2021 at 11:00 am at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home located in Huntersville, NC. The celebration of life will follow directly after at 12:00 pm; officiated by Amanda Lewis, Novant Hospice Chaplin.
