Nelda Jernigan McDonald

Nelda Jernigan McDonald passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013, 6 days after her 85th birthday, surrounded by her devoted family. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, North Carolina. Family visitation will begin at 2:00 pm, followed by the service in the chapel at 3:00 pm. Burial will be immediately following at Hopewell Baptist Church, Davidson, North Carolina. Nelda was loved by many, especially her family. She is survived by her four children: daughters Jeanie Harrison and her husband, Tom of Greensboro; Evelyn McDonald of Hope Mills; Denise Beyer and her husband, Paul of Oak Island; and Lyman B. (Bo) McDonald, Jr. of Hilton Head, SC, one sister Patty Griffen of Ocala, FL and one brother Bob Jernigan of Concord, CA. Nana will be lovingly remembered by 14 grandchildren: Tyler Bray, Matthew Brannen, Kristen Landreth, Alysen Green. Austen Parlett, Stephanie Mohammed, Lauren Mitchell, Nicki Hill, Samantha Katz, Leigh Helberg, Andrew Harrison, Paul Beyer, III, Eric Beyer and Stephanie Kocyba. Great-grandchildren include Owen Bray; Jacob and Charlee Brannen; Andrew, Hannah and Nathan Landreth: Lynlee Green; Caroline and Abygaiel Mohammed; Chloe and Corey Lawson; Cayte Mitchell; Addy Grace Hill; Hannah, Patrick and Cody Beyer; Auston Milke; Riley and Asher Helberg; Marley and Ryder Harrison. Nelda was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Rev. Lyman B. McDonald, Sr., her infant son, John David McDonald and her parents, Silas and Ruby Jernigan.
