Miss Nancy Carolyn Barkley of Huntersville, NC went to be with her Heavenly Father on July 5, 2011 at Levine Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville. She was born on March 11, 1942 in Mecklenburg County a daughter of the late Van Buren and Lottie Pettus Barkley. Nancy was a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed the many visits from church members and others during her battle with cancer. After attending Flora McDonald College and graduating from Kings Business College she worked for Southern Bell in the Yellow Pages Department retiring after 30 years of services. She also worked for Security Plus Insurance. A Memorial Service will be conducted 11:00 am Friday July 8, 2011 at Hopewell Presbyterian Church with Rev. Allan Purtill officiating assisted by Rev. J. E. Wayland, Jr. The family will receive friends following the service. She is survived by her sister, Peggy Washam (Murvyn) of Cornelius; brother, Van Monroe Barkley of Charlotte; neice, Gwen Sullivan (John); nephew, Jeffrey Washam, great nephews, Jason & Jordon Penninger and great neice, Samatha Washam. The family would like to thank the staff of Lake Norman Oncology, staff from Hospice, Levine Dickson Hospice House and the love and support from friends and family.
