Millard (Bud) Hansford Eller, Jr. passed away January 18, 2017 at the Pines at Davidson.
He was born on October 6, 1926 in Ashe County, NC. He spent 5 years in the US Navy during World War II and the Korean conflict.
He attended Catawba College and had a career with Combustion Engineering traveling nationally and internationally with his work. He made his home in Granville, MA where he was active in his church and community serving as a volunteer fireman.
After retirement he turned his energy and talents to volunteering, this included Kairos, a prison ministry. After returning to Ashe County he worked with the Literacy League, Meals on Wheels, Jefferson Methodist Church and started and developed a Farmers Market in West Jefferson, NC. After moving to Cornelius then Davidson he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Hospice and Hammers.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Joanne Lee; parents, Millard Sr. and Dora Lewis Eller; 3 brothers and 5 sisters, including Dana Eller Jackson of Cornelius.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Chewning Eller; his son, Ethan Lee Eller of Merrimack, NH; daughter, Elisabeth Anne Cooper of La Jolla, CA and one sister, Mary Farris of Richmond, VA.
He was a member of St. Albans Episcopal Church in Davidson where a Memorial Service will be held Sunday, January 29 at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in the Eller cemetery, in Ashe County, NC.
