Michael Philip Palmer

July 24, 1923 — August 20, 2011

Michael Philip Palmer, 88, of Charlotte, NC and Palm Beach Gardens, FL went to be with his Lord and join his family in heaven Saturday August 20, 2011, waiting for his soul mate of 67 years, Mary Ann Palmer. Mr. Palmer previously resided in Florham Park NJ and Mendham NJ. Michael graced this earth as the oldest child of seven children of Anthony and Josephine Palmer of Madison NJ. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Babe Lundell and Louise Melvin and only brother Anthony, who was his business partner. After completing his responsibility to his country during World War II, he returned to Madison NJ. He trained with NJ Carpenters Union 620 and built two homes in Florham Park where he was volunteer fireman. During his early career, he was offered a position with Woolsulate Corp, where he learned the management of the acoustical ceiling and dry wall construction business. Michael was able to form the corporation A & M Contracting with his brother. Michael was a past member of Spring Brook Country Club, Morristown, NJ and PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Memorial services will be private. Michael is survived by his loving childhood sweetheart, Mary, and their daughters, Eileen (Lee) Palmer Mead and husband Gary of Concord, NC and Linda Palmer Freidman of Naples FL; granddaughters, Melissa (Misty) Mead Hinson and husband Michael, Amanda Mead and her close friend Phil Fenno, Gabrielle Palmer Friedman and Danielle Palmer Friedman and great grandchildren, Zachary and Heidi Hinson. In addition he is survived by sisters, Frances DeVito and her husband Joseph, Phil Jacobus and Eleanor Lucia. The family would like to express their gratitude to Jeffery Cardwell, MD; Barry Schneider, MD and Warden Woodard, MD during the unexpected illness of Michael. We are grateful to Levine & Dickson Hospice House of Huntersville for the wonderful and loving care given to Michael during his declining health. In lieu of flowers memorials in Michaels honor may be made to Levine & Dickson Hospice House, 11900 Vanstory Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078 One is easily caught up in the desire to expound on the contributions of a loved one who has passed on. Let us survive on our personal memories.
