Melba JoAnne Bookout

Melba JoAnne Bookout, 85, of Cornelius, North Carolina passed away on May 4, 2021. 

She was born in West Jefferson, North Carolina on May 4, 1936 to the late James Walter Blevins and Anna Beulah Blevins.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Bookout, as well as two sisters and one brother.

Melba is survived by her daughter, Missy Taylor (Todd); son, Tim Cherry (Debra); step-children, David and Patti; grandchildren, Cason and Genna Cherry and Holly Taylor; step-grandchildren, Leigh Ann and Lindsay; great-grandchildren, Maeve and Chloe Cherry; and sisters, Polly Andrakakos, Alda Vandling, Martha Jennings (Rex), Willa Schlegel (Phil), and Wanda Egly (Bob).

Melba enjoyed gardening, reading, and cooking, but above all, loved spending time with her family.
