Maureen "Reenie" Dacey, 64, of Stanley, NC passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015 in Charlotte, NC. Born October 16, 1950, in Goshen, NY, she spent her formative years and early adulthood in upstate New York before settling down in Sandy Hook, CT. Reenie served as an inspiration to many, both in her personal and professional life. Those who knew her best loved her upbeat nature and passion for helping others. She worked as a geriatric/long term care nurse for over 40 years and will always be remembered for her kindness and compassion for her patients and their families. In her final years, Reenie was privileged to receive care from Dr. Ashley Sumrall of the Levine Cancer Institute and Dr. Vishwa Raj of Carolinas Rehabilitation in Charlotte, NC. Reenie was thankful for the professionalism, friendliness, and compassion demonstrated by both the providers and staff at the Levine Cancer Institute and Carolinas Rehabilitation. Reenie is survived by a sister, Rosemary Moore, of Woodstock NY; a daughter, Sarah Dacey, of Stanley, NC; a son and daughter-in-law, Kristian and Lisa Dacey of Wesley Chapel, NC; and two grandsons, Camden and Evan Dacey of Wesley Chapel, NC. Services will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2015, at Hills Chapel United Methodist Church in Stanley, NC. In lieu of flowers, small donations may be sent to the Hill's Chapel UMC Sanctuary Fund, 972 S Highway 16, Stanley, NC 28164. Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home is assisting the family.
