Mary Ann Palmer

May 19, 1925 — February 27, 2013

Mrs. Mary Ann Palmer, 87, of Charlotte, NC, went to be with her Lord after a brief illness on February 27, 2013. She had been a resident of The Laurels in Highland Creek for the past eight months enjoying the kindness and care of the staff and her neighbors there. Mary married her childhood sweetheart, Michael Philip Palmer, in Rockingham, NC while he was stationed at Camp McCall during World War II, and spent the next 67 years together before he passed away. She returned to Madison, NJ when Michael was shipped overseas. When he returned, they lived in Florham Park and later in Mendham, NJ before moving to Charlotte. In addition to Michael, she was preceded in death by her parents John and Irene Spagnolo, and her brother John Spagnolo. Mary is survived by her daughters Eileen (Lee) Palmer Mead and husband Gary of Concord, NC, Linda Palmer Friedman of Naples, FL, granddaughters Melissa (Misty) Mead Hinson and husband Michael of High Springs, FL; Amanda (Mandy) Mead and close friend Phil Fenno of Charlotte; Gabrielle Palmer Friedman of San Francisco, CA and Danielle Palmer-Friedman of Seattle WA and great grandchildren, Zachary and Heidi Hinson. Memorial services will be private. The family would like to express their gratitude to the caring staff at Levine & Dickson Hospice House of Huntersville for the compassion shown to Mary.
